A MOE-trained teacher, Ruth has had more than 20 years of teaching experience including teaching stints with Anglo Chinese School – Independent (ACS-I), Anglican High and Changkat Changi Secondary. She has been constantly in touch with the Chemistry and Math syllabi within the Singapore Education System.
Ruth’s wide exposure allows her to teach Secondary Chemistry (Pure and Combined), and Mathematics (Elementary Mathematics and Additional Mathematics), covering both the Express and Normal streams. She has alo taught students from the Integrated Programme (IP) and International Baccalaureate (IB).
Ruth loves teaching and sees it as her calling. She derives great satisfaction whenever she manages to explain difficult concepts for her students to grasp. For five consecutive years in her last school, she in fact specialised in helping the weakest graduating students. Ruth treats her students as if they are her own children, and always works at building rapport with them and helping them to like their subjects and enjoy the learning process.
Ruth is someone with strong convictions. For instance, she strongly believes in keeping herself fit, eating healthily, as well as protecting the environment. Ruth practises what she preaches. She constantly works at being a good role model to make a positive impact on her students; to motivate them to do their best in whatever they do.
